In this post, Dr. Abston discusses the PPACA formulas for compensating hospitals that provide services to large numbers of the uninsured. Fortunately for us, in addition to her many other talents, she is a self professed "ex-math team nerd". She even invites others who share her interest in math to double check her conclusions.
I'm one of those people whose eyes glaze over when math is discussed. Her explanation attempts to reach people like me. I understand her conclusions, but it reinforces my sense of how difficult it is to come up with a "one size fits all" National health care policy.
