The 21-8 vote split largely along party lines. One Republican — Sen. Kevin Mullin, R-Rutland — voted with the Democrats and two Democrat/Progressives to support the bill, which Mullin helped write as a member of the Senate Health and Welfare Committee. |

Montpelier, Vermont - April 26, 2011
The Vermont Senate gave final approval to health care reform legislation Tuesday.
The vote came after lengthy debate on amendments-- many of them aimed at making the bill more palatable for businesses. Republicans introduced several amendments that they say would reduce the costs for businesses. But the strong Democratic majority easily rejected those amendments. |

After months of struggle over big questions and mind-numbing minutiae, the leaders in the Vermont House and Senate celebrated a moment of triumph on Tuesday: They came to final agreement on the single-payer health care legislation.
Over the last few days, the six members of the Health Care Conference Committee — three House members and three senators — worked through the details of the final draft of H.202.
