Charting the future of health care in Idaho
By Dr. Bill Woodhouse
http://www.pocatelloshops.com/new_blogs/community/?p=3469
"Dr. Bill Woodhouse of Pocatello, Idaho is a family doctor, teacher and writer who advocates for meaningful health care reform on behalf of his patients and profession. He is a past president of the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians and a member of both the Idaho Medical Association Committee for the Uninsured and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Health Policy and Access. He is active in Physicians for a National Health Program and Idaho Health Care for All."
"The events of the past two months in Idaho's health care policy arena are significant and unprecedented. Many Idaho physicians see the preventable suffering of uninsured patients in their practices on a daily basis. They struggle to function in a profoundly fragmented health care system. In late July the Idaho Medical Association met in Coeur D'Alene to consider a number of resolutions affecting the practice of medicine. At that meeting a resolution was passed by the House of Delegates supporting universal health care coverage for all Idahoans. A second resolution was passed that supported the creation of a Blue Ribbon Commission to consider options for universal health care coverage in Idaho." |
